JCPenney Leadership Program, Price College of Business, University of Oklahoma, Norman

Jarrett Ferguson, who graduated from OU in December, is recognized for his service on the Student Advisory Board and Peer Training Team director for the JCPenney Leadership Center in the OU Price College of Business.  The program helps high achieving students develop their leadership skills and become business leaders.

Ferguson has led and mentored the Peer Training team on the content and delivery of new member curriculum for all new associates in the leadership program.  He also serves as a role model and adviser for new candidate leadership associates accepted into the program.

"Jarrett has displayed patience and true leadership as he has worked to lead the new associates through their first semester in the program and showed grace under pressure as he leads the peer training team through a successful semester,” said Assistant Director Melia Alderman.

This is Ferguson’s second year of involvement with the program. Last year, he served as a peer trainer, delivering programs to leadership associates and to various student groups in OU’s Price College of Business.

Ferguson earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration with a focus on finance and entrepreneurship and venture management and a minor in economics. He has accepted a position in Dallas as a management consultant for Sendero Consulting. Among his many student activities, Ferguson served as president of the Collegiate Entrepreneur Organization and president of Solar Sooner Co., a student-run company in association with the college’s Integrated Business Core Program. He served as a business strategy analyst intern for Chickasaw Nation Industries and a consulting associate for the Ronnie K. Irani Center for the Creation of Economic Wealth at OU.

About the Program: The JCPenney Leadership Center has several programs focused towards developing organic and natural mentoring relationships. Among them, the Peer Training Program offers a student-designed and led curriculum focused on seven foundational leadership and professional development programs.
