National Mentoring Month
During National Mentoring Month in January, the Boren Mentoring Initiative is joining with mentoring organizations and schools across the state to encourage citizens to mentor a child in their community.
“In Real Life” is the theme of the 15th annual National Mentoring Month, which focuses on real life benefits of mentoring to young people, as well as real life benefits to mentors themselves. The goals of National Mentoring Month are to:
- Raise awareness of mentoring in its various forms.
- Recruit individuals to mentor, especially in programs that have waiting lists of young people.
- Promote the rapid growth of mentoring by recruiting organizations to engage their constituents in mentoring.
MENTOR, the National Mentoring Partnership, provides a variety of downloadable marketing materials for Mentoring Month, including custom graphics, digital and print-ready thank-you cards and print-ready campaign posters.
They also provide a National Mentor Month Campaign Toolkit with ideas for publicity, social media, creating a mayor's proclamation, and more.
