Oklahoma Mentor Day
Friday, January 19, 2018
Oklahoma Memorial Union, 900 Asp Avenue
University of Oklahoma, Norman
Congratulations to the more than 70 outstanding mentors from throughout Oklahoma who will be honored Friday, Jan. 19, during the sixth annual Oklahoma Mentor Day, to be held at the University of Oklahoma in Norman. Registration begins at 9:15 a.m. at the Oklahoma Memorial Union, 900 Asp. Ave.
“Mentoring Champions” is the theme of the Oklahoma Mentor Day, which is presented by the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence and its David and Molly Boren Mentoring Initaitive. David Boren, founder and chairman of the Foundation for Excellence, will be the featured speaker and, along with his wife, Molly, will present certificates to the honorees during the recognition ceremony.
This marks the second year the event has been held at a university, giving mentors and mentees an opportunity to visit a college campus and participate in hands-on activities hosted by university departments. Beginning at 1 p.m., participants are encouraged to choose from one or more exciting OU tours, including the Radar Innovations Laboratory, the Innovation Hub, the National Weather Center and the Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History.
Held in conjunction with National Mentoring Month in January, Oklahoma Mentor Day honors outstanding mentors who have been selected by mentoring organizations across the state. The goal of the event is to recognize exceptional mentors from all types of youth mentoring programs and to provide fun, educational activities for the honorees and their mentees to share.
Registration is required for Oklahoma Mentor Day. To register, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
