Ada City Schools Foundation

Dicus Charity Golf Tournament: A locally owned business has an annual golf tournament, with a different charity selected each year to be the recipient of the proceeds. This year, the Ada City Schools Foundation was chosen as the beneficiary. There were 189 participants in this four-man scramble. Hole-in-one prizes were awarded, as well as prizes for a large percentage of the participants. Approximately 12 volunteers were needed.

Funds Raised: $15,000


Bartlesville Public School Foundation

Annual Fund Raising Reception & Dinner: A reception and dinner, which featured teachers and students benefiting from grants, was held at the Woolaroc Museum. Fine arts students provided the evening’s entertainment for over 150 guests. Special speakers for this event have included former U.S. Senator Nancy Kassebaum and former governor George Nigh. Approximately 20 volunteers and three months of preparation were needed.

Funds Raised: $22,500

Cashion Education Foundation

A Bid for Education: The Cashion Education Foundation and the Cashion Masonic Lodge co-sponsored a live auction and Mexican buffet dinner, which was attended by over 300 people. Invitations were issued to founding donors of the Cashion Education Foundation and to elected officials at the state, county, and city levels. Businesses and individuals from Cashion and the surrounding area donated auction items, and students from Cashion Public Schools made theme baskets for the auction. The dinner was catered by El Chico. Approximately 10 volunteers and several months of preparation time were needed.

Funds Raised: $21,000

Chickasha Public School Foundation

McDonald’s All-You-Can-Eat Hotcake Dinner: Chickasha Public School Foundation board members sold and took tickets and served patrons, while McDonald’s staff prepared the hotcakes and sausages for the dinner, which served 400 people. Approximately 15 volunteers and the cooperation of McDonald’s were needed.

Claremore Public Schools Foundation

Homecoming Luncheon: All Claremore High School graduates were invited
to attend the homecoming activities, one of which was a luncheon
featuring an update on Claremore’s schools. A representative of the
Claremore Public Schools Foundation recognized alumni class
contributions to the Foundation over the last year. Volunteers and
preparation were handled by the alumni association.

Funds Raised: $4,235

Sock Hop: The Claremore Public Schools Foundation honored its Teacher
of the Year and retiring board members at this event. Several foundation
donors participated in publicity photos, which were taken with a 1957
Chevy convertible at the local Sonic Drive-In. Sonic also donated food
and beverages for the evening’s 200 attendees. Foundation trustees
served as greeters at the event and presented each guest with a pair of
Claremore Public Schools Foundation socks for the evening. Decorations
included classic cars from the ‘50’s, loaned by the Chevy Car Club;
platinum, silver, and gold albums bearing the names of donors hung from
the ceiling; and Sonic banners on the walls. Entertainment included
dancing and a hula hoop contest. Fifties dress was optional, but
encouraged. Approximately 20 volunteers and one month of preparation
were needed.

Enid Public School Foundation

Festival of the Stars: Over 500 people attended this event, which was held in conjunction with Enid’s Tri-State Music Festival and honored the stars of Enid Public Schools—its students and teachers. Over 300 students, representing every public school in Enid, performed at the festival, which also included a silent auction and “A Taste of Enid,” with food booths offering samples from 10 local restaurants. Approximately 50 volunteers and four months of preparation time were needed.

Funds Raised: $8,000 - $10,000

Kingfisher Education Foundation

Duck Race: For a $50 contribution, participants purchased a rubber “racing” duck that was numbered for identification. The ducks were raced in Kingfisher’s new $2 million “Duck Racing Facility” (the new municipal swimming pool), home of the most exciting three minutes in duck racing history. First through fifth place and last place finishers in all received prizes. Approximately 18 volunteers and one month of preparation time were needed.

Pryor Academic Excellence Foundation

$200,000 by 2000: An anonymous donor matched all funds raised by the Pryor Academic Excellence Foundation in 1999. All Foundation board members were involved in this year-long project, the goal of which was to raise $100,000 and have those funds matched.

Funds Raised: $65,000 and counting

Awards Banquet and Auctions: Over 300 people attended this buffet dinner, which featured an alumni guest speaker and honored Pryor teachers and grant recipients. A silent and a live auction were also part of the evening’s festivities. Approximately 15 volunteers and four months of preparation time were needed.

Funds Raised: $20,000


Chili Cook-Off: This event was held in conjunction with Pryor’s Expo ‘99 and was attended by over 400 people. All Pryor public schools and several local businesses participated with cook-off teams. Approximately 10 volunteers and three months of preparation time were needed.

Funds Raised: $3,000


A Taste of Pryor: This dessert-tasting evening was attended by 350 people. Pryor public schools and local restaurants provided the desserts, and celebrity chefs from out of town acted as judges. Approximately 15 volunteers and two months of preparation time were needed.

Stroud Public School Foundation

Christmas Poinsettia Sales: Poinsettias were bought wholesale and sold for twice their cost. The flowers were delivered the first week of December. Local businesses bought them as gifts for customers and employees, and many local churches offered their congregations an opportunity to decorate the sanctuary with a poinsettia in memory of a
loved one. Approximately 12 volunteers and one afternoon of preparation time were needed.

Funds Raised: $1,500

Vanoss Education Enrichment Foundation

Business Contribution Program: Local businesses were solicited for support funds. Approximately 12 volunteers were needed.

Funds Raised: $24,000


Pathway to Excellence:
A series of brick walkways was constructed in front of the school. Graduates of Vanoss Public Schools and community members purchased bricks engraved with their names. The bricks were then placed in the section reserved for their donors’ respective years of graduation. Other sections were allotted for teachers and staff, memorials, and community members. Approximately 12 volunteers and 150 hours of preparation were needed.

Funds Raised: $27,000

 

Woodward Public Schools Educational Foundation

Golf Tournament: A spring golf tournament was held at Boiling Springs State Park. The tournament was a four-man scramble. The entry fee of $240 included green fees, carts, lunch, and mulligans. $100 hole sponsorships were solicited and the sponsors were recognized at their holes with signs. Chipping and putting contests were held prior to tee-off. The entry fee for this was $40 per team. Approximately 20 volunteers were involved.
