Sample Definition of Committee Responsibilities

THE BLACKWELL PUBLIC SCHOOL FOUNDATION
Fund Raising Committee

The chairman of the fund raising committee is appointed from the membership of the Foundation Board of Trustees by the President of the Board. The fund raising chairman, in turn, appoints members of the committee from the board membership and/or interested patrons from the community.

The responsibilities of the committee are as follows:

  1. Solicit contributions from the community which will be placed in an endowment for the Blackwell Public schools. In addition to the Foundation Donor Drive an annual fund raising effort will be held annually. Through presentations and speeches to organizations, mailings to all segments of the community, media publicity, and one-on-one contacts, solicitations continue year around.
  2. the chairman appoints a secretary and heads of the sub committees. Sub committee chairman recruit from the community.

Sub Committees and Responsibilities

Presentations Organization and creation of slide and video programs.
Program Scheduling

- Responsible for a program when necessary.
- Compile list of community organizations.
- Prioritize list for speakers and programs presenters.
- Mail letters to organizations offering presentations.
- Contact organizations by phone and schedule programs.

Personal Contact/Donor Committee

- Segmentize community.
- Contact representative of all segments personally.

Planned Giving - Wills
- Trusts, living and revocable
- Insurance benefits
- Assets - property, stocks, etc.
- Gift annuities

Finance Committee

The finance committee of the Blackwell Public school Foundation will consist of two (2) Foundation board members (one of which serve as chairman), and interested patrons from the community serving as committee members.
The responsibilities of the committee are as follows:

  1. Preparation of the budget
  2. Investments made by the Foundation
  3. Designated funds
  4. All financial interests of the Blackwell Public School Foundation


THE BLACKWELL PUBLIC SCHOOL FOUNDATION
Allocation Committee

The allocation committee of the Blackwell Public School Foundation will consist of two (2) Foundation board members (one of which will serve as chairman), and selected patrons from the community serving as committee members.
The responsibilities of the committee are as follows:

  1. Develop the explanation sheet and application form concerning the program being funded.
  2. Responsible for the evaluation of the selection process.
  3. Distribution of the explanation sheet and application form to necessary individuals.

Nominating Committee

The Nominating Committee of the Blackwell Public School Foundation will consist of members of the Board of Trustees and will be responsible for making nominations to the board. Nominations will be made in accordance to the following references in the by laws of the Blackwell Public School foundation:
Article II Section 3: All vacancies in the Board of Trustees whether caused by resignation, death or otherwise, may be filled by the remaining trustees or a majority of the remaining trustees attending any stated or special meeting even though less than a quorum be present. A trustee thus elected to fill any vacancy shall hold office for the unexpired time of his predecessor and until his successor is elected and qualified.

Article III Section 3: The officers of the corporation to be elected by the Board of Trustees shall be elected annually at the September meeting of the Board of Trustees.

Article III Section 9: Other officers may be designated by the Board of Trustees as they from time to time deem best.
