The National Mentoring Center offers a start-up toolkit for creating a safe and effective mentoring program, sample forms, a mentoring listserv, lending library, training resources and more.
MENTOR/National Mentoring Partnership is a national advocate and resource for the expansion of mentoring initiatives nationwide. This web site features a national database of mentoring programs and provides support and tools, such as Elements of Effective Practice, that mentoring organizations need to effectively serve young people in their communities.
Founded in 1904, Big Brothers/Big Sisters of America is the nation’s premiere mentoring organization. This site provides a variety of mentoring resources, research on the impact of mentoring, volunteer links and more.
Mentor Consulting Group (MCG), a national firm, offers a wide range of services to community and faith organizations, schools and districts, corporations, states, provinces, and government entities seeking comprehensive guidance in planning and implementing safe and effective mentoring programs.
PALS is a mentoring program that matches high school agriculture students with elementary youngsters who have special needs. Developed by the National FFA Organization, the program helps those involved to build trust in others and develop positive self-esteem, both of which are critically lacking in many of today's challenged young people. The program includes a free CD-Rom with all the tools you need to start a program in your area.

The Harvard Mentoring Project involves a national media campaign to promote the growth of the mentoring movement with the goal of linking large numbers of young people with adult mentors.
Working With Mentors provides current resources for the mentoring field. Includes resources on recruitment strategies, screening, training and matching.
Everybody Wins is a national program designed to increase children's prospects for success in school and in life through one-to-one reading experiences with caring adults and older students. For example Everybody Wins' Power Lunch is a lunchtime literacy and mentoring program in which elementary school students are matched one-to-one with volunteers from companies and other community organizations to share lunch, conversation and good books.
In partnership with the FBI, the National Mentoring Partnership makes nationwide FBI fingerprint-based background checks available to any mentoring program in the country. Through SafetyNET, each FBI background check costs $18, and results are delivered within 3-5 business days.
EMT Associates is a small business meeting the evaluation, management, and training needs of public and non-profit organizations nationwide. The EMT Web site provides access to mentoring publications including Best Practices for Mentoring Programs, Designing An Effective Training Program For Your Mentors and several others.
The Tutor/Mentor Connection (T/MC) is dedicated to improving the availability and quality of comprehensive, long-term, volunteer-based tutor/mentor programs in high-poverty areas of the Chicago region and other large US cities through an ongoing, dynamic exchange of ideas. Website includes online articles and resources pertaining to tutoring/mentoring.
Mentoring Partnerships in Other States
California
The California Governor's Mentoring Partnership works in partnership with over 700 California community, faith and school based mentoring programs such as Big Brothers/ Big Sisters, Boys and Girls Clubs and regional mentoring coalitions throughout the state to provide increased public awareness of the need for and support of mentoring; identify and implement effective incentives and strategies to expand mentoring in the public and private sector. The goal of GMP is to encourage strong collaborations regionally to involve whole communities in mentoring efforts to assist our youth.
Nebraska
TeamMates Mentoring Program, a Nebraska mentoring program modeled after the original program begun by Tom and Nancy Osborne, is a school-based, one-to-one mentoring program which pairs adult volunteers one-to-one with students.
Maine
The Maine Mentoring Partnership is a partnership of government, mentoring program providers, funders and supporters from both the public and private sectors. It is an initiative of Maine Children’s Cabinet. It goal is to increase the number of formal mentoring relationships available to Maine’s children and youth.
Michigan
Mentor Michigan, led by Governor Jennifer Granholm and First Gentleman Dan Mulhern, is working to ensure that all Michigan youth have ongoing relationships with stable, caring individuals. Together with mentoring programs throughout the state, it is working to support and enhance mentoring programs throughout the state.
Texas
Texas Governor's Mentoring Initiative seeks to increase the number of formal mentoring relationships in Texas by promoting mentoring, building collaborations and partnerships, and strengthening the capacity of mentoring programs.
