OKLAHOMA CITY
-- DVDs of the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence 20th annual Academic Awards Ceremony can be purchased for $12 each by contacting the foundation at (405) 236-0006.

The gala celebration, taped May 20 at the Tulsa Renaissance Hotel and Convention Center, recognizes 100 public high school seniors as Academic All-Staters and three outstanding teachers – one each at the elementary, secondary and college/university levels -- as Medal for Excellence winners. An elementary/secondary administrator and an exemplary alternative education program also receive Medal for Excellence honors.

The program, which commemorates the 20th anniversary of the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence, features a keynote address by the foundation’s founder and chairman David L. Boren. His speech, titled “The Challenges Facing the Academic All-Staters,” drew a standing ovation from those in attendance. The Oklahoma Arts Institute Summer orchestra, under the direction of Mark Parker of Oklahoma City University, is also featured in the program.
