Mount Vernon's George Washington Ambassador Program To Offer Free Colonial Music Presentations Oct. 20-22

George Washington's Mount Vernon's Estate and Gardens, in conjunction with the George Washington Oklahoma Teaching Ambassador Program, invites students and teachers to a special program featuring the music of George Washington's America.

David HildebrandThrough the generosity of the Kirkpatrick Foundation, and in partnership with Oklahoma History Center, Oklahoma A+ Schools, the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence and the Hardesty Library, the presentations will include student programs in both Tulsa and Oklahoma City; a teacher workshop; and a free, public evening concert.

Join David Hildebrand, one of our country's top musical historians for a lively exploration of music in the colonial, revolutionary, and federal periods. Dr. Hildebrand has been performing professionally since 1980 with a focus on American music of the Colonial and Federal periods. His music enlivens the soundtracks of the television documentaries "Rediscovering George Washington" and "Liberty! -- the American Revolution." He and his wife have released six full-length CD recordings, including "George Washington: Music for the First President" and "Music in the Life of Benjamin Franklin." He currently teaches American music history at the Peabody Conservatory.
