Merchan-Breuer is a National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholar and Advanced Placement Scholar with Distinction. She recently conducted research with a University of Oklahoma professor, resulting in a scientific poster on radiative heat transfer. Merchan-Breuer is vice president of Key Club and Hispanic-Latino Students United. A member of the varsity tennis team, she is a three-time state qualifier in tennis and recipient of the Student Athlete Award for girls’ tennis from the Norman Athletics Association.
