Mentees: Girl Scout Troop 27

Carina Friedl has been involved in mentoring girls through her work as a Girl Scout volunteer for 12 years. During that time Friedl has served as a leader for a multi-level troop, mentoring the girls in her troop, and as a Service Unit leader, mentoring other troop leaders in her area – indirectly impacting many other Girl Scouts beyond her own troop.

“Carina has given her heart and soul to encouraging and developing girls of courage, confidence and character,” said Troop Support Manager Marci Corey. “She strives towards this mission in everything she does for the girls in her troop as well as the girls and volunteers in her Service Unit area.

Through Friedl’s mentorship, many girls from her troop have pursued and received the Girl Scout Bronze and Silver Awards, which require community service and active leadership. She loves to camp with her troop and is there to cheer the girls on through their accomplishments and victories, and to comfort them when times are tough.

“Girls in our troop learn to become inclusive, responsible, and timely,” shared Troop 27 co-leader Chalise. “Carina teaches the girls teamwork and leadership skills. They push themselves to do things they may not have tried without encouragement from a strong, confident and caring leader like Carina.”
