Youth Leadership Exchange (YLX)

Leadership Oklahoma City has nominated Amanda Finch as its Youth Leadership Exchange (YLX) outstanding mentor of the year.
Youth Leadership Exchange is the high-school-age programming arm of Leadership Oklahoma City. Its mission is to empower central Oklahoma youth to become leaders who have a positive influence in their communities. Students complete the program by participating in monthly classes and volunteer service.
Amanda works at Oklahoma City Community College and has been a mentor for YLX for three years. She has been matched with Elvira, a sophomore at Pathways Middle College, since August. Before being matched with Elvira, Amanda mentored Courtney and Marissa.
“She maintains her relationships with Courtney and Marissa even though they are both now in college,” said YLX Program Director Amber Shelton. “She goes above and beyond what is asked of her and really cares about the young women she mentors.”
Amanda takes the time to get to know her mentees and their families.
“I know that the parents of these young ladies truly appreciate her time and energy,” Amber added.
