Mission Mentors

Mission Mentors has named Clara Wichert, a retired farmer, as its outstanding mentor for Oklahoma Mentor Day.

Since its inception in 2010, Mission Mentors has provided one-on-one relationships between an adult volunteer and a child, allowing them to thrive in school and throughout the Fairview community.

Clara has been volunteering with Mission Mentors from the beginning. “Clara has always been up for any type of challenge and is one of the first people in the community to help when there is a need,” said Randi Lackey, match support specialist.

In 2010, Clara was matched with Adrianna, who was in the second grade at the time and they are now in their sixth year together. During their weekly hour-long meetings, Clara frequently brought crafts and fun surprises for Adrianna.

When Adrianna went to middle school, Clara decided to take on a second mentee. She started mentoring Angelina, a fourth-grader at the time.

“Mission Mentors and Fairview Schools cannot thank Clara enough for her time and dedication to our students,” Randi said. “She is truly a gem in our community and one of the best role models anyone could ask for.”
