World Baseball Outreach, Tulsa
Mark Rector of Tulsa has been named the outstanding mentor for World Baseball Outreach, a faith-based nonprofit that provides mentoring and teaches leadership to at-risk youth through baseball.
Rector serves as the coordinator of the organization’s RBI – Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities – an initiative giving young people from underserved and diverse communities the opportunity to play baseball and softball. The program, which began in 2011, has grown to serve more than 800 boys and girls annually, providing them with year-round sports, educational and enrichment activities. Tulsa’s RBI program serves students between the ages of 4 and 18.
“Mark Rector has worked tirelessly with the youth in our RBI program,” said Holly Moreland, World Baseball Outreach facility coordinator. “His dedication and perseverance has made an impact in many lives. He radiates compassion and genuineness with honesty with diplomacy.”
She added that Rector is an exceptional mentor because he prioritizes the needs of others before his own. “His words of encouragement and positivity have had a significant effect,” she said.
