Tiarnan “Tia” Morgan has been named the outstanding mentor for the Tulsa Tech chapter of SkillsUSA, a national professional student organization dedicated to providing students with opportunities to develop leadership, teamwork and citizenship skills. The organization serves students ranging from high school to college who are interested in pursuing careers in trade, technical and skilled service jobs.

Tiarnan, a student at Tulsa Tech-Peoria branch, began volunteering with SkillsUSA Reading Partners in Education three months ago. Her mentee’s name is Kennedy, a second-grader at Hawthorne Elementary School.

“Tiarnan has been a constant blessing to her mentee and to the student body of Hawthorne Elementary School,” said Tulsa Tech Instructor Richard Stewart.

Along with mentoring Kennedy, Tiarnan has organized a school-wide clothing and supply drive with her mom, and participated in drug- awareness presentations.

“Tiarnan has a heart to see all the students at Hawthorne have a more enhanced quality of life,” Stewart said.
