Boys & Girls Club, LeFlore County, Poteau
Boys & Girls Club of LeFlore County has selected Elizabeth Smith of Poteau as its outstanding mentor. Smith, a sophomore majoring in allied health at Carl Albert State College, has been matched for one year with 11-year-old mentee Alicia.
“Elizabeth has not only been an incredible blessing for her mentee but also for Alicia’s family,” said Arielle Perry, CEO of Boys & Girls Club of LeFlore County. “She has gotten to know them and spends time with all of them. Elizabeth is a true inspiration to so many others as she mentors and works to make a difference in our community.”
Smith is a graduate of Poteau High School and member of Poteau First Baptist Church. She also represents her school as a Viking Ambassador, participates in the Scholars’ Program, and serves as vice president of Phi Theta Kappa. She is the daughter of Lance and Tamara Smith of Poteau.
“Elizabeth Smith is an incredible young lady,” Perry added.About the program: Boys & Girls Club of Leflore County offers school-based mentoring for students in fourth through eighth grades. Mentors spend approximately 30 minutes once a week with their mentee.
