Habits Empowering Successful Parents (HESP)

Habits Empowering Successful Parents (HESP), a Pryor Public School program that provides parenting resources to families in Pryor, has nominated Mikayla Campbell as its outstanding mentor of the year for Oklahoma Mentor Day.

Mikayla is a student mentor that works with children during HESP weekly meetings. Mikayla was matched with Blake, a first-grader at Lincoln Elementary School. They talk and enjoy playing games together.

“Mikayla leaves a two hour soccer practice to mentor during HESP; however, she is never too tired to play with her friend, Blake,” Evett Barham, the leadership teacher and student council advisor at Pryor High School said.

“Mikayla is reliable and never misses her time to mentor and has a wonderful outlook in helping others.”
