Academic All-State Alumni, Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence
Raychel Kozik. a 2013 Academic All-Stater from Purcell, was selected as an outstanding mentor for the Academic All-State Alumni Mentoring Program. A sophomore majoring in chemical engineering at Oklahoma State University, she has volunteered as mentor for nearly a year and a half.
Kozik has used creativity and patience to mentor Destiny Waters, a fifth-grader at Stillwater’s Skyline Elementary School. Kozik and her mentee often work on crafts and talk or play outside in Skyline’s Outdoor Classroom.Kozik also serves as a leader among her peers within the mentoring program. After a September 2013 OSU All-State Alumni meeting, she took the initiative to revive the All-State Alumni mentoring program at the campus. She has continued to encourage fellow OSU All-Staters to become mentors. At the 2014 Academic Awards Banquet, she encouraged those 100 new Academic All-State Scholars to mentor in their college communities.
