Eric 'Ric' Bailey
Asbury United Methodist Church, Tulsa
Mentee: Trevin Corona, nine years old
“Ric has a heart for young people. He has been an enthusiastic, consistent mentor to youth through Asbury’s Project Transformation outreach for the last four years, sharing his interest, time and talents. His enthusiasm is contagious as he infuses it into these young students with a “can do” attitude. One-on-one, he encourages the love of reading, enhancement of computer skills, and art talents.
He instills the feeling that they are loved, valued and that they can achieve. He also supports the program by volunteering as a driver for field trips or other off campus events. In addition, for several years, Ric dedicates his time to an elementary student, Trevin, twice a month at Walt Whitman Elementary, the A & W program, eating lunch with the student, visiting with him, listening to his concerns and reading with him, always challenging him to excel. Ric does all of this with grace and a big, bright smile. It’s catching!”
