Colonial American History Education

In addition to large group activities, Colonial Day at the Capitol has offered smaller, interactive sessions for groups of 15 to 30 students. These 30- to 45-minute sessions are developed and presented by teachers on a variety of topics pertaining to 18th century life and the Revolutionary War.

At our Colonial Day event, teachers present their sessions two or three times over the course of the day to accommodate as many students as possible. Here are samples of small-group activities that teachers have led at Colonial Day at the Capitol:
  • Archeology
  • Colonial Trades
  • 18th Century Games
  • Ghost Stories
  • Tea Party
  • Colonial Education
  • Colonial Dancing
  • Slavery
  • A Soldier’s Life
  • Colonial Sayings
  • Economy
  • Revolutionary War Spies
  • Quill & Ink
