Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oklahoma

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oklahoma has selected Tammi Reilly of Tulsa as its outstanding mentor for 2014.

Reilly has made a positive impact not only on her Little Sister, Hannah, but also on the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization, said Taylor Smith, Match Support specialist at Big Brothers Big Sisters. Reilly has continually gone out of her way to help her community by donating bags of Christmas gifts to struggling families and encouraging the Big Brothers Big Sisters staff and other children in the program.

“She has made such a positive impact on our organization because of the way she goes above and beyond, and is always willing to step up to help those who need it most,” Smith said.

Reilly is the president and CEO of Reilly & Associates and serves on the faculty at the University of Phoenix School of Business. She is also a U.S. Army Reserves Colonel. Even with her other commitments, Reilly has established and maintained a positive relationship with 6-year-old Hannah.

The pair has been matched for three months. In their time together, Reilly has taken Hannah to multiple activities, providing her with opportunities to learn and grow as an individual. Based on Hannah’s love for animals and her dreams of being a ballerina, they have gone to the zoo, the circus and saw The Nutcracker at the Tulsa Ballet. In addition, Reilly took Hannah to her first OU football game as a way to instill more dreams in her mentee.

“Attending the game gave me an opportunity to discuss college with Hannah and that I believe she would definitely be a student there one day,” Reilly said. “I will keep praying Hannah has the opportunity to attend such an amazing institution of higher education in about 12 years.”

Throughout the course of their time together, Reilly has continually strived to expose Hannah to fun educational activities that will inspire her to follow her dreams. This would not have been possible without a strong friendship between the two.

”There was an immediate connection, and I have no doubt that this is the beginning of a lifelong friendship between the two of them,” Smith said. “Their match will warm your heart because of how Tammi sincerely cares for Hannah in a positive way, and she will make sure that Hannah reaches her goals in life by way of their experiences together in the present.”
